Fore-gone
Why I created "Fore-gone"
Many of the best moments in life are those of pure enjoyment. Playing a round of golf, traveling somewhere new, snorkeling above a reef... Accompanied by those we love, these memories give life fullness. I believe in taking these activities, and ourselves, lightly; never too seriously, but always joyfully. In doing so, we can let. ourselves. live.
So how does "Fore-gone" emerge from this? On the golf course, we're met with scorecards, pace of play, course management, and strategy. In pursuit of par, we optimize everything from our equipment to our swing path. Then, with our best plans in place, with our best equipment in hand, and with hours of simulator time in the books... we slice the ball deep into the woods. "Fore!"
As we sift through the tall grass looking for the ball, the forest looks on with quiet curiosity. Knowing exactly where the ball lies, yet offering no clues in the gentle breeze. Looking on with a wondering grin, thinking, "what peculiar things humans do." The forest knows hard winters, and survival, and relief when springtime emerges. To the forest, the game of golf is just that, a game. And because of that, the forest can watch our low-stakes search with serenity, curious if the ball will become a keepsake in the dirt.
Perhaps if we take on the forest's perspective in golf, and in other hobbies, we can find joy and humor even in our shoddiest strokes.
